Prague – October 2022
Focus: Science communication

On October 17 & 18, 2022, our ESRs went to Prague. They were welcomed by Charles University for a special training on science communication.

Part I – Presentation skills for an academic context

Venue: Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic.

Trainer: Renee Selikowitz, Corporate Courses Coordinator, British Council

Our ESRs learnt more about defining a presentation, structuring, starting, developing the body, finishing, creating visuals.
The objective was for them to be able to communicate their science to non-experts.

Discussion by groups about what is a good/a bad presentation.

Workshop – Presentation of their posters and evaluation in groups.

Part II – Mediating questions during conference talks and poster presentations

Venue: Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic.

Trainer: Bethany Cagnol, Assistant Teaching Professor, Télécom Paris Languages and Culture Department.

Our ESRs learnt more about adapting one’s language to break down complex information concisely and efficiently, facilitating communication in delicate situations, and mediating fast-paced Q&A sessions for face-to-face and online conferences, and poster presentations.
